Announcement: Impact to Outlook Add-in

This notification is applicable to those using Business Central's Outlook add-in (your business inbox in Outlook).

As part of our continual efforts to harden security of our online services, the Outlook add-in will switch to Nested App Authentication (NAA) immediately.

Business Central online environments will soon automatically receive an update. No action is required from partners or customers. We will notify tenant admins via the Microsoft 365 message center and Business Central admin center only if their environments are delayed from receiving this update.
Action is required by 1st February 2025 for Business Central on-premises customers that currently use the Outlook add-in with Exchange Online. We will soon publish a patch that can be applied to supported versions of Business Central. The patch will also require adjustment of the Azure app registration that you have already configured for using the Outlook Add-in or other cloud integrations. This post (and product documentation) will be updated shortly with steps, patch version, and applicable BC versions. Customers that do not complete these steps by 1st February 2025 will not be able to use the Outlook Add-in. We will notify tenant admins with this message via the Microsoft 365 message center, if there is recent Outlook add-in activity in their tenant.
